You are somewhere around the midlife stage and you’ve got this feeling – a quiet little idea that keeps coming back. You want something that’s yours, maybe a website, a blog or even an online shop. Something just for you.
But every time you sit down to make it happen, technology seems to get in the way. The jargon, the overwhelm and that niggling voice in your head that keeps laughing and whispering “who do you think you are?”
Maybe your nest is emptying, maybe your ageing parents require more flexibility in your routine or maybe redundancy or retirement is on the horizon and you are thinking that this is your chance to build a new way of earning, just for yourself. Maybe you are still in your 9-5 but quietly, gently, beginning to dream of something different at the latter part of your working life.
You might not have any qualifications for this type of work. You might have never done anything like this before and somedays it might feel like everyone else already knows what they’re doing. And when you are doom scrolling on social media (which you will, believe me!) you see thousands of people that seem to know it all already, so imposter syndrome takes over before you have even given it a go!
No-one knows it all, all they have done differently to you is just started.
My page, Dottymango, was created for exactly this moment – when you are ready to begin but just need someone to show you how, calmly and simply, without judgement to help you start to feel ready.
Because building your website isn’t really just about the website. It’s about increasing confidence, learning a new skill – a modern day skill, something us Gen X’s weren’t taught at school in the 80s!
It’s doing something that is so far out of your comfort zone that the people who know you the best can barely believe it when they see it.
